Acknowledging international day of Rural Women.

Today we celebrate the rural wahine of Aotearoa, who are a huge part of the heart and sole of our countryside. From the Far North to Southland, we acknowledge your mahi, your resilience, and your unwavering commitment to the land and each other.

This day is about recognising the vital role of rural women and ensuring their contributions are valued and supported. To all the women working in and for rural New Zealand: you are seen, you are appreciated, and you are indispensable.

"This year we celebrate four incredible rural women who have all played a pivotal role in agriculture — [animal health, crop science, and horticulture]. They all received awards at the 2025 Animal and Plant Health NZ (APHANZ) Annual Conference Dinner and Awards Ceremony in Wellington."
